A review here asks what a recording or a performance is for. Technical command is the floor, not the verdict: the questions that decide a piece are whether the text survived the setting, whether the ensemble understood what it was singing, and whether a listener is left closer to the thing the music is about. Praise is specific or it is withheld, and a negative judgement names the bar it is measuring against.
